I love Tricky “The Only Way“…  always amazed with his work.

Nothin’ shakin’ on Shakedown Street…. Oh yes there is! I’ll be shakendown tonight to Dead and Co. in Boulder. This breaks an old promise I made to myself. I saw the Dead at Red Rocks (3 nights) and then in Telluride (The Harmonic Convergence is the name given to one of the world’s first globally synchronized meditation events, which occurred on August 16–17, 1987). After this amazing week I said it couldn’t bet better than this so I wasn’t going to see the Dead (or any version of the band) for eternity. I got a free ticket and will be riding my bike up to a friends house (next to Folsom Field) and well, “joining in the festivities”. I’ll post pictures and some recordings. Gonna get my dead-dance on…

JT Earle’s show was more than I expected.  I’ve seen him once before at the Fox Theater in Boulder and was a good show but nothing like what I saw at the Bluebird.  This time the energy was high because the Sadies where his backup band.  They opened up with a set of their own and got the crowd rocking and rolling.  I’ll be searching for some new Sadies vinyl at Bart’s this weekend and I’ll be buying JT’s new album “Kids In The Street” as well.

I’ve loved Jay Farrar’s music since I was introduced to Uncle Tupelo in the early ’90’s.  I’ve followed his Son Volt career as much as any other band.  He’s also one of my favorite song writers to play on my Taylor 420, my voice is kind of in the same key.

Seeing Son Volt at the Fox in Boulder is a real treat.  Small venue, great location (Boulder) and great acoustics.  Here a variety of songs recorded on my iPhone from the show, enjoy!

Remember the band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros?  That’s Alex Ebert’s alter ego (so to speak).  I didn’t really listen to Edward Sharpe…  until I watched the music documentary, “Big Easy Express”.  Nor did I know they were considered “indie folk heroes” 🙂

Had to get this Live recording of Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam.  This was one of my favorite release of 2016, “I Had A Dream That You Were Mine“.

I did buy a whole bunch of of other records at my local favorite, “Bart’s Record Shop“, local independent record store.  I’ll blog more in the next couple of days about that loot.

It’s not a bad recording.  Just exported it from a .mov to an audio file.

The concert was super.  I Really love the maturing of Justin Vernon as an artist.  A friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) knew Justin while traveling in their early 20’s.  She/he 🙂 said they just couldn’t connect to 22, A Million.  My reaction….  “this is an artist exploring, experimenting and maturing.  I really love this album and listen to a couple time a week.  Then I put on Blood Bank and love it just as much”.

Live music lifts my spirit.  It takes me away to places I could never go to without it.  I truly “live in the moment” while at a concert.
